Rebuilding my ninja strength has been... interesting. Some things (like back and shoulder muscles) came back easily, while grip and forearms have been tricky. They didn’t just feel weak. They felt vulnerable, and I’ve had to take it slow and safe. I’m finally starting to feel more comfortable trying higher impact obstacles and lachès. It’s hard to be patient, especially with my lockoffs, but it’s all part of the journey, and I’m learning more about healthier, more balanced ways to train my body and recover for optimal performance. Check out some of my highlight stories, if you want to see some of my training/recovery techniques. I hope you enjoy this semi-successful attempt, as well as the unexpected fail 😂

I love beating myself! 53.5 inches is the highest #boxjump I’ve done this year! I’m getting really close to my alltime personal best of 55!
I’ve always struggled with wide grip pull ups, but I’ve been focusing on engaging my mid and lower traps, and it’s helping! I got 18!
I had 6 rips (most of which were still bleeding), And I didn’t think i could get through any of the obstacles on stage 3 of @ubwmikecook #ultimatebackyardwarrior... but i needed to find out.
I didn’t complete the stage, but i went to the limits of my strength, and was not held back by holes in my hands. It’s important for me to know that i am mentally strong enough to block out that sort of discomfort, to accomplish the task (as long as I’m not doing permanent damage to my body). But also, i won! And i met so many wonderful people, and learned new skills, and played with awesome kids! Thank you all for a wonderful weekend! 😃

The team at @Tonal asked me to try their digital strength & personal training system, and it is AWESOME. It pretty much fits an entire gym into one machine on my wall, that takes up almost no space. It has tons of other features, but right now, I’m training in their free lift mode. I warm up with higher reps of light weight, then increase until i find my 1-rep max on each arm. Then i go one pound higher, and do a slow heavy negative. Then I play with wide grip pull downs and muscle ups. It’s my favorite warm up for ninja obstacles. 😁 #beyourstrongest #TonalPartner

Orange shirt on the left is me in January- i barely made it, and failed after 4 runs. The blue shirt on the right is me in May. Although i was winded, i made it pretty easily on all 10.
